An unstable subatomic particle of the same class as an electron (a lepton), but with a mass around 200 times greater. Muons make up much of the cosmic radiation reaching the earth’s surface. For Finapp, muons are misunderstood particles, and therefore not considered by the CRNS community. Until the day Finapp realized that it could be used to easily and cheaply calculate how many fast neutrons reach the ground.
