La d\u00e9tection par neutrons cosmiques est une technologie mature pour la mesure de l\u2019\u00e9quivalent en eau de la neige (SWE)<\/span><\/h2>\n

La neige repr\u00e9sente une ressource en eau fondamentale pour les zones montagneuses et les plaines. Malgr\u00e9 son importance, la surveillance de la quantit\u00e9 \u00e9quivalente d\u2019eau stock\u00e9e dans le manteau neigeux en montagne (Snow Water Equivalent – SWE) pose de grands d\u00e9fis en raison de l\u2019isolement et de l\u2019altitude des zones concern\u00e9es. La raret\u00e9 et les incertitudes des estimations du SWE sont donc des probl\u00e8mes courants, ce qui implique un besoin urgent de capteurs proximaux fournissant des mesures continues et fiables. Les syst\u00e8mes bas\u00e9s sur la d\u00e9tection par neutrons cosmiques (CRNS) ont atteint un niveau de maturit\u00e9 adapt\u00e9 \u00e0 une application \u00e9tendue sur le terrain dans des zones isol\u00e9es. Apr\u00e8s calibration appropri\u00e9e, une sonde CRNS peut d\u00e9duire le SWE gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la d\u00e9tection des neutrons, particules provenant de l\u2019espace et interagissant fortement avec l\u2019eau. Durant la saison hivernale 2023\/2024, 20 syst\u00e8mes CRNS de Finapp ont \u00e9t\u00e9 op\u00e9rationnels dans les montagnes de la r\u00e9gion de V\u00e9n\u00e9tie, en Italie. Ils ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9ploy\u00e9s par l\u2019Agence R\u00e9gionale de Protection de l\u2019Environnement de V\u00e9n\u00e9tie (ARPAV) et int\u00e9gr\u00e9s au r\u00e9seau pr\u00e9existant de stations m\u00e9t\u00e9o-nivologiques.
